Dustin A. Paschal, JD

As a founding member of Simon | Paschal PLLC, a boutique employment law firm in Frisco, Texas, Dustin maintains an active employment law practice.  If it’s an HR related issue, Dustin likely handles it for his clients.  Dustin is a former President of DallasHR and is currently serving on DallasHR’s overall governing body, which he previously chaired for two years.  Dustin also serves as the District 1 Director for Texas SHRM and previously served as one of its Legal & Legislative Directors.  Dustin likes HR so much, he married an HR professional!  When Dustin isn’t working, he is trying to keep up with an active three year old son or enjoying a nice cocktail poolside with his wife!

Program Info:

Description: Although almost every HR professional deals with issuing discipline to employees, do you truly understand the consequences of what you're doing.  Are you issuing the discipline at the write time?  Are you issuing the correct level of discipline?  Are you wording the discipline properly?  Are you putting yourself at legal risk based on the discipline you're issuing?  The questions surrounding discipline are endless and it's not always as easy as it seems.  Through this presentation, you'll learn the consequences of discipline, failing to discipline, and failing to discipline properly.  You will also receive guidance on how and when to discipline properly.

Learning Objectives:

1.       Attendees will learn the most effective way to fashion discipline in the workplace such that it accomplishes the goals desired but stays legally compliant.

2.       Attendees will learn legal consequences that arise when discipline is not issued properly.

3.       Attendees will learn the proper time to issue discipline to employees.
